2017 President’s Award to Alumni of PV

Prof. Phoolchandra Jain, ‘Premi’ Alumni of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth got conferred Presidential Award for PRAKRIT LANGUAGE for the year 2017.

On 15th August, 2018, the Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Govt. of India announced the name of the recipient of Presidential Awards for PRAKRIT LANGUAGE for the year 2017. This year Prof. Phoolchandra Jain ‘Premi,’ Former Director B. L. Institute of Indology, New Delhi, Former Professor, Jaina Darshan, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and Alumni of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth has been awarded Presidential Award 2017 for his significant contribution to Prakrit Language and Literature.

Prof. Phoolchand Jain ‘Premi’ who did his Ph.D. from Parshwanath Vidyapeeth on ‘Mulachara Ka Samikshatmak Adhyayan’, is a great scholar of Sanskrit, Prakrit and Jainism.  He was head of the Department of Jaina Darshan, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. He has been former President of Akhil Bharatavarshiya Digambar Vidvat Parishad.

Presently he is Dean of Syadvad Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi and President of Jina Foundation, New Delhi. He has been Professor Emeritus at Jaina Vishwa Bharati, Ladnun. He has edited many original Jaina manuscripts and authored hundreds of Research papers. In 2018 he was awarded ‘Vishista Pescara of Uttarpradesh Sanskrit Sansthanam by Honorable Governor of U.P. Sh. Ram Naik and Yogi Aditya Nath, Chief Minister U. P. His wife Dr. Munni Pushpa Jain is a guest lecture, in Jaina Darshan Vibhag, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. His elder son Dr. Anekant Kumar Jain is Professor at Lal Bahadur Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi. ‘Shraman Sanskriti aura Vaidika Vratya’ is a recently published work of Prof. Jain from Bharatiya Jnanapith, New Delhi which is well received by the Jaina Scholars. He has been awarded Mahavira Puraskar, Ahimsa International Puraskar, Shrut Samvardhan Puraskar, Acharya Gyansagar Puraskar  and  Gommatesh Puraskar.

Prof. Phoolchandra Jain as born on 12th July, 1948 at Dalapatpur, District Sagar (MP). His father Singhai Nemichand Jain and mother Udyeti Bai were religious person. After his primary education he did Jaina Dharma Visharada from Katni. Then he came to Syadvad Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi and passed his Siddhanta-shastri and Achary Examination.  He did his M A from Dept. of Sanskrit, BHU with Jaina Philosophy.  He passed his Prakritacharya from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. In 1977 he was enrolled at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth for Ph. D. and completed his Ph. D. on ‘Mulachara ka Samikshatmaka Adhyayan’ in 1977. He taught Prakrit at Jaina Vishwa Bharati from 1976-1979. He joined as a lecturer and head to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in 1979. He got retired in 2013 from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. After, he was Director of B L Institute of Indology for two years. Prof. Jain has got many awards based on his academic works.

Parshwanath Vidyapeeth congratulates Prof. Jain for this great achievement. We really feel proud as he has been Ph. D. student of the Institute.

National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ at PV

Invitation to the Three Day National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ to be organised by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth from 26-28 October, 2018.

Established in 1937, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth is a premier Institute of higher learning in the field of Indology in general and Jainology in particular. Jainism being one of the oldest and richest traditions of the world through the ages has preserved many of its original doctrinal characteristics. At present there is an awakening of interest world over in the study of Jain philosophy, religion, and culture. Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, through its Research work and publications, is continuously engaged in promoting the cultural heritage of Jainas.

The Institute is regularly engaged in publishing the original texts of Prakrit and Sanskrit with its critical editions, translations and commentaries and organising National Seminars, Workshops, symposia, and lecture series. Now Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, under series of Seminar on Jaina Inscriptions, is going to organise its second Three Day National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ from 26-28 October, 2018.

International Yoga Day at PV

On 21st June, 2018  on the eve of International Yoga Day a Yoga Programme was held at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth under collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Art, Varanasi.

Dr. Yogesh Bhatta and Mrs. Geeta Bhatta were the two trainers who demonstrated many aspect of Yogi Asanas and Pranayam.

At the beginning Dr. V S Shukla, Director IGNCA welcome the trainers and the programme was started with Managalacharana. Including the students  and Research Scholars  total 30 trainees were present in the Yogia Class.

At last Dr. S. P. Pandey casted the vote of thanks.
