Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, has made a new appointment of Prof. Dr. Ramanath Pandey under the Central Sanskrit University’s Project on ‘Editing and Translation of Unpublished Manuscripts’. He has come from Baroda (Gujarat) . He is mainly a scholar of the Sanskrit and Pali language. He has also knowledge of Prakrit, Hindi, English, Gujarati, Magadhi, and Urdu . He has thirty years of research experience in the field of Indological studies. The appointments will strengthen the institution’s research capabilities and academic excellence.

पांडुलिपि विज्ञान पर १५ दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला का समापन समारोह

पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ में सेंट्रल संस्कृत यूनिवर्सिटी नई दिल्ली द्वारा वित्तपोषित पांडुलिपि विज्ञान पर १५ दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला के समापन सत्र का आयोजन आज ३१ मार्च २०२५ को प्रात: १० बजे किया गया। १७ से ३१ मार्च, २०२५ तक चलने वाली इस कार्यशाला का मुख्य उद्देश्य प्राचीन पांडुलिपियों के पहचान एवं अध्ययन आदि को बढ़ावा देना था।
समापन समारोह की अध्यक्षता प्रो.सीता राम दूबे, (पूर्व अध्यक्ष, प्राचीन भारतीय इतिहास, संस्कृति एवं पुरातरत्त्व बिभाग) ने की। मुख्य अतिथि थे प्रो.गोपबन्धु मिश्र (पूर्व कुलपति, श्री सोमनाथ संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय), सारस्वत् अतिथि थे पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ के उपाध्यक्ष श्री इन्द्रभूति बराड.।
कार्यक्रम का प्रारम्भ डा. रेखा द्वारा प्रस्तुत किये जैन मंगलाचरण से हुआ। वैदिक मंगलाचरण डा. बप्पा राजवंशी ने किया। अतिथियों का स्वागत एवं कार्यशाला के आयोजन की आवश्यकता पर संस्थान के निदेशक डा. दीनानाथ शर्मा ने प्रकाश डाला। सहायक निदेशक एवं संयोजक डा. ओमप्रकाश सिंह नें कार्यशाला की रिर्पोट़ प्रस्तुत करते हुये प्रतिभागियों को धन्यवाद दिया और अन्त में कार्यशाला में पधारनेवाले सभी के प्रति आभार प्रदर्शन किया। तदूपरान्त प्रतिभागियों ने अपने अनुभव बताते हुए कहा कि यह कार्यशाला बहुत ही उपयोगी और सारगर्भित रहा।
विशिष्ट अतिथि श्री ऋषभ जैन ने अपने उद्बोधन में कहा कि यदि व्यक्ति अपने कार्य को धर्म पर आधारित करके करें तो उसमें सफलता निश्चित है। मुख्य अतिथि प्रो.गोपबन्धु मिश्र ने पाण्डुलिपि विज्ञान की आवश्यकता, उस पर कार्य करने वाले कुछ प्रमुख विदेशी विद्वानों एवं भारतीय विद्वानों का उल्लेख करते हुये उसकी उपयोगिता बताते हुए कहा कि हम पाण्डुलिपि से सहयोग, त्याग, समपर्ण आदि के गुण सीख सकते हैं।
सारस्वत अतिथि श्री इन्द्रभूति बराड. ने कहा कि इस संस्था का निर्माण ज्ञान विज्ञान के विकास के लिए ही किया गया है। हम आगे भी ऐसे आयोजन करते रहेगें । अध्यक्षीय उद्बोधन में प्रो.सीता राम दूबे, ने पाण्डुलिपियों के रख-रखाव और भारतीय संस्कृति की रक्षा के लिए लोंगो को आगे आने को कहा।
अन्त में सहायक निदेशक एवं संयोजक डा. ओमप्रकाश सिंह नें आभार ज्ञापन किया। इस अवसर पर विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों से पधारे अनेक विद्वान तथा देश के कोने कोने से पधारे प्रतिभागीगण उपस्थित थे।

Internal Meeting At Parshwanath Vidyapeeth
On 1st April 2025, an internal meeting with all staff members was organised at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Shri Indrabooti Barar, Vice President chaired the meeting. The staff members present in the meeting were Dr. S. P. Pandey, Dr. Dinanth Sharma, Dr. O. P. Singh, Shri Rajesh Chaubey, Dr. Rekha, Dr. Bappa Rajvanshi, Dr. Prasant Mandal, Aastha Jha, and Ishwardatt Maurya. The meeting started with Navakar Mantra.The meeting aimed to discuss key initiatives, address important issues, running academic projects, and foster collaboration among team members.

Senior scholars were honored under the foundation day celebrations of Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts, Varanasi.
Today, March 19, 2025, Wednesday, at noon, as part of the founding day ceremony of the Indira Gandhi National Art Center, Varanasi, a special lecture was organized in memory of Acharya Mahamahopadhyaya Pandit Sudhakar Dwivedi, an expert in Jyotish Shastra. On this occasion, senior scholars were felicitated.
Acharya Kameshwar Upadhyay, General Secretary of the All-India Vidwat Parishad, Varanasi, was the chief speaker, and Professor Jaishankar Lal Tripathi, President of the All-India Vidwat Parishad, Varanasi, presided over the function.

पांडुलिपि विज्ञान पर १५ दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला का उद्घाटन समारोह
पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ में सेंट्रल संस्कृत यूनिवर्सिटी नई दिल्ली द्वारा वित्तपोषित पांडुलिपि विज्ञान पर १५ दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला के उद्घाटन सत्र का आयोजन आज १७ मार्च २०२५ को प्रात: १० बजे किया गया। १७ से ३१ मार्च, २०२५ तक चलने वाली इस कार्यशाला का मुख्य उद्देश्य प्राचीन पांडुलिपियों के पहचान एवं अध्ययन आदि को बढ़ावा देना है।उद्घाटन समारोह की अध्यक्षता काशी हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय के संस्कृत विद्या धर्म संकाय के पूर्व संकाय प्रमुख प्रो. के.के. शर्मा ने की। मुख्य अतिथि थे इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय कला केंद्र के पूर्व सलाहकार प्रो. विजय शंकर शुक्ल ।सास्वत् अतिथि थे पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ के अध्यक्ष श्री डी.आर. भंसाली।सारस्वत अतिथि श्री धनपतराज भंसाली ने पाण्डुलिपि विज्ञान से सम्बन्धित कुछ महत्त्वपूर्ण तथ्य प्रस्तुत करते हुये जैन पाण्डुलिपियों के विषय में बात की। मुख्य अतिथि प्रो. विजय शंकर शुक्ल ने पाण्डुलिपि विज्ञान की आवश्यकता, उसपर कार्य करने वाले कुछ प्रमुख विदेशी विद्वानों एवं भारतीय विद्वानों का उल्लेख करते हुये उसकी ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमि पर प्रकाश डाला। उद्घाटन सत्र की अध्यक्षता करते हुये प्रो. कृष्णकान्त शर्मा ने पाण्डुलिपियों में पाठभेद का जिक्र करते हुये कुछ उदाहरणों के माध्यम से पाण्डुलिपियों में पाठ-संशोधन के महत्त्व को रेखांकित किया।सहायक निदेशक एवं संयोजक डा. ओमप्रकाश सिंह नें कार्यशाला के आयोजन के विषय में प्रमुख सूचनायें प्रतिभागियों से शेयर किया और अन्त में उद्घाटन सत्र में पधारनेवाले सभी के प्रति आभार प्रदर्शन किया।
इस अवसर पर विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों से पधारे अनेक विद्वान तथा देश के कोने कोने से पधारे प्रतिभागीगण उपस्थित थे।

On 11th March 2025, a General Body Meeting of the Parshwanath Vidyapeeth Managing Committee was held at the conference hall of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. The Honorable members present were Shri D R Bhansali, Shri Saurabh Jain, Shri R.C. Jain, Dr Dinanath Sharma, Shri Sudev Barar, Shri Satish C Jain, and Dr S P Pandey. The Committee discussed many essential issues concerning Parshwanath Vidyapeeth in detail.

New Appointments in Parshwanath Vidyapeeth
Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi has made new appointments of two project fellows- Dr. Bappa Rajvanshi and Dr. Prasanta Mandal under the Central Sanskrit University’s Project on ‘Editing and Translation of Unpublished Manuscripts’. Both the scholars are from West Bengal. The appointments will definitely strengthen the institution’s research capabilities and academic excellence.

Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi Vice Chancellor of C. S. U visited the P.V.
Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, visited Parshwanath Vidyapeeth on February 18, 2025. visited the library, Museum and Campus and discussed the ongoing projects of PV. He also knew the progress of CSU project sanctioned to PV.
He advised to run the PG classes in Prakrit at PV and assured to affiliate the Institute from Central Sanskrit University.

On 1st February 2025, Dr Charukeerthi Bhattarak Swamiji, Head of the Moodbidri Matha (Karnataka) and disciple of Acharya Vidyanandji visited the institute. He visited the library, Museum, and Campus, and discussed PV’s ongoing projects. He also suggested organising an international seminar in collaboration with Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Prof. K K Jain and Dr. Anand Jain along with teachers of Syadvad Mahavidyalaya also visited with h im.

संस्कृत/पाली/प्राकृत भाषाओं को पांडुलिपि संपादन एवं प्रकाशन के माध्यम से बढ़ावा देने के संबंध में विशेषज्ञ समिति के साथ इंटरफेस बैठक (2023-24)
11 जनवरी 2025, नई दिल्ली, संस्कृत/पाली/प्राकृत भाषाओं को पाण्डुलिपि संपादन एवं प्रकाशन के माध्यम से बढ़ावा देने के संबंध में केंद्रीय संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ को स्वीकृत परियोजना की एक महत्वपूर्ण इंटरफेस बैठक 11 जनवरी 2025 को आयोजित की गई। इस बैठक में पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ के निदेशक प्रो. दीनानाथ शर्मा ने भाग लिया और इंटरफेस बैठक की विशेषज्ञ समिति के अधिकारियों के समक्ष परियोजना पर अब तक की हुई प्रगति की रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत की। अधिकारियों ने पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ द्वारा अब तक की गई प्रगति पर संतोष व्यक्त किया और कहा कि परियोजना को निर्धारित अवधि के भीतर पूरा कर लिया जाएगा।
उल्लेखनीय है कि पाण्डुलिपियों पर स्वीकृत इस परियोजना के लिए पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ को जनवरी 2024 में 90 लाख रुपए की धनराशि आवंटित की गई है और प्रो. दीनानाथ शर्मा के अलावा अन्य विद्वान भी इस पर निरंतर कार्य कर रहे हैं।
Promotion of Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit languages: Interface meeting with the Expert Committee on Manuscript Editing & Publication ( 2023- 24)
11 January 2025, New Delhi, An important interface meeting of the project approved by the Central Sanskrit University to Parshvanath Vidyapeeth regarding the Promotion of Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit languages through manuscript editing and publication was held on 11 January 2025. Prof. Dinanath Sharma, Director of Parshvanath Vidyapeeth participated in this meeting and presented the report of the progress made so far on the project to the officials of the Expert Committee of the Interface Meeting. The officials expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far by Parshvanath Vidyapeeth and said that the project will be completed within the given period.
It is noteworthy that for this project approved on manuscripts, an amount of Rs. 90 lacs has been allocated to Parshvanath Vidyapeeth in January 2024 and apart from Prof. Dinanath Sharma, other scholars are working continuously on it.

श्रमण में प्रकाशित लेखों की तीन सूची पुस्तकाकार में `श्रमण अतीत के झरोखे में’ के नाम से (वर्ष क्रमानुसार, लेखकानुसार तथा विषयानुसार) अब तक प्रकाशित हो चुकी है- प्रथम सूची ई. सन्. १९४९ से ई. सन् १९९७ तक दूसरी जनवरी-मार्च १९९८ से अक्टूबर-दिसम्बर २०१० तक तथा तीसरी जनवरी-मार्च २०११ से अक्टूबर-दिसम्बर २०२१ तक।श्रमण के लिए आलेख भेजने वाले विद्वानों एवं शोधार्थियों से अनुरोध है `श्रमण’ चूंकि जैन विद्या की एक शोध-पत्रिका है इसलिये प्रकाशन हेतु भेजे गए आलेख जैन-धर्म-दर्शन एवं तुलनात्मक दर्शन से सम्बन्धित ही होना चाहिए। तुलनात्मक दर्शन से सम्बन्धित आलेख जैन धर्म-दर्शन को केन्द्र में रख कर लिखे जाने चाहिये। लेख हमेंशा टाइप करके ही भेजें। हाथ से लिखे आलेखों पर विचार नहीं किया जायेगा। हिन्दी आलेख APS-DV- Priyanka, Mangal or Krutidev (font size-12) में ही भेजें। अंग्रेजी के लिए Times New Roman (font size-12) का प्रयोग करें। आलेख मूल शोध-सन्दर्भों से युक्त हो तथा शोध-सन्दर्भ-सूची आलेख के अन्त में दी गयी हो।
आलेख के अन्त में पत्राचार हेतु अपना स्पष्ट पता अवश्य अंकित करें। सुझाव का पालन न करने वाले आलेखों पर विचार नहीं किया जाएगा।

`श्रमण’ के बढ़ते चरण
पंजाब केशरी परम पूज्य श्री सोहनलाल जी महाराज की पुण्य स्मृति में आज से ८७ वर्ष पूर्व (ई. १९३७) `पार्श्वनाथ विद्याश्रम’ की स्थापना वाराणसी में की गई थी। कालान्तर में इस उच्च शोध शिक्षण संस्थान का नाम `पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ’ कर दिया गया। ई. सन् १९४९ नवम्बर से पं. कृष्णचन्द्राचार्य (मुनिजी) के सम्पादकत्व में पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ से `श्रमण’ नाम से मासिक-पत्रिका का प्रकाशन प्रारम्भ किया गया। जैन धर्म, दर्शन, पुरातत्त्व, संस्कृति, कला, इतिहास, काव्य, आगम आदि से सम्बन्धित शोधात्मक लेखों से सुसज्जित इस पत्रिका ने शीघ्र ही समाज में और विद्वज्जगत् में शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त कर लिया। कालान्तर में स्व. श्री भूपेन्द्रनाथ जैन (पूर्व अध्यक्ष) के पिता स्वनाम धन्य स्व. श्री लाला हरजसराय जैन जो इस विद्यापीठ के प्रथम मंत्री थे, तथा स्व. प्रोफेसर सागरमल जैन, पूर्व निदेशक के सत्प्रयासों से अल्पावधि में ही यह पत्रिका काफी लोकप्रिय हो गई।
`श्रमण’ का प्रकाशन विगत ४० वर्षों (ई. १९८९) तक निरन्तर मासिक पत्रिका के रूप में होता रहा। इसके बाद वर्ष ४९ (ई. १९९०) से इस मासिक पत्रिका को विधिवत त्रैमासिक बना दिया गया। तब से निरन्तर यह पत्रिका त्रैमासिक ही प्रकाशित हो रही है। पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष श्री धनपतराज जी भंसाली, वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष श्री इन्द्रभूति बरड़ तथा सचिव श्री सुदेव बरड़ का इस दिशा में पूर्ण सहयोग प्राप्त होता रहता है। उन्होंने इसकी उच्च गुणवत्ता बनाए रखने के लिए `श्रमण’ का परामर्श मण्डल भी बना दिया है। इसमें भारतवर्षीय तथा विदेशी विद्वानों को जोड़ा गया है जिससे यह पत्रिका विदेशों में भी अपने चरण मजबूती से जमा सके।

24 दिसंबर, 2024 को लाला हरजस राय जैन व्याख्यान श्रृंखला के अंतर्गत ‘वाल्मीकि रामायण में चरित्र चित्रण’ विषय पर व्याख्यान महामहोपाध्याय प्रोफेसर विजय पंड्या द्वारा दिया गया। इसी अवसर पर प्रोफेसर डी.एन. शर्मा द्वारा लिखित ‘सर्वांगिण प्राकृत व्याकरण एवं अभ्यास’ पर एक नई पुस्तक का विमोचन मंच पर उपस्थित प्रमुख अतिथियों द्वारा किया गया।
24th December,2024 under Lala Harjas Rai Jain Lecture series a lecture on ‘Valmiki Ramayan men Charitrachitran’ was delivered by Mahamahopadhyaya Prof. Vijay Pandya. At the same occasion a new book on ‘Sarvangin Prakrit Vyakaran Evam Abhyas‘ authored by Prof. D. N. Sharma was released by the prominent guests present on the dais.

पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ, वाराणसी के पूर्व निदेशक डॉ.श्रीप्रकाश पाण्डेय को सदस्य कार्यकारिणी, प्रबन्ध-समिति नियुक्त किया गया है। अवधेय है कि डॉ. पाण्डेय १९९४- २०२४ लगभग ३० वर्षों तक पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ में विभिन्न पदों यथा प्रशासनिक अधिकारी, सह-निदेशक, संयुक्त निदेशक तथा निदेशक के पद पर आसीन रहे हैं। पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ की प्रबन्ध-समिति ने आपकी लम्बी और उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं के लिये आपको सदस्य कार्यकारिणी, प्रबन्ध-समिति, पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ नियुक्त कर आपका आकादमिक सहयोग लेना जारी रखने का फैसला लिया है। आप पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ की श्रमण शोध पत्रिका के लम्बे समय तक सम्पादक रहे हैं तथा विद्यापीठ की एक अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण परियोजना जैन विश्वकोश के जैन दर्शन खण्ड के सम्पादक भी हैं। यह खण्ड शीघ्र प्रकाश्य है।
प्रो. दीनानाथ शर्मा पार्श्वनाथ के नये निदेशक नियुक्त

१० नवम्बर २०२४ पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ, वाराणसी के सातवें निदेशक के रूप में प्रो. दीनानाथ शर्मा (पूर्व अध्यक्ष पालि प्राकृत विभाग, गुजरात विश्वविद्यालय, अहमदाबाद) को नियुक्त किया गया है। प्रो. शर्मा प्राकृत, पालि, अपभ्रंश, गुजराती, अंग्रेजी, हिन्दी, संस्कृत आदि भाषाओं के ज्ञाता है। आपका ३० वर्षों से अधिक का अध्यापन का अनुभव है। वर्तमान में आप राष्ट्रीय मूल्यांकन एवं प्रत्यायन परिषद् में अध्यक्ष भी हैं। प्रो. दीनानाथ शर्मा की नियुक्ति से संस्थान में नई परियोजनाओं के क्रियान्वयन के माध्यम से जैन विद्या के नए आयामों को उद्घाटित करने में सहायता मिलेगी।
अवधेय है कि प्रो. शर्मा केन्द्रीय संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय, नई दिल्ली द्वारा पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ को विशेष अनुदान के रूप में स्वीकृत Promotion of Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit languages through Manuscript Editing & Publication and developing online learning material under Indian Knowledge System for the year 2023-24 नामक परियोजना के सम्पादक भी हैं।

Parshwanath Vidyapeeth celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was graced by the chief guest Shri Dhanpat Raj Bhansali , President of the Managing Committee, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Dr. S. P. Pandey, Director, PV, and Dr. Abhijeet Dixit, Director, IGNCA unfurled the flag. A recital of the National Anthem was done. On this occasion Sh. D R Bhansali, Dr. S. P. Today on 21st June, 2024, an ICPR sponsored International Yoga Day was celebrated by PARSHWNATH VIDAYAPETH. Theme of this Year celebration is Yoga for Self and Society. Sh. D.R. Bhansali was the chief Guest of the First Session. The session was chaired by Dr. S. P. Pandey, Director P.V. in the beginning Yoga Protocol was followed by the student of P.G. Diploma in Yoga, and other guests and participants. In his address Sh. D R Bhansali said that now yoga has become an international event and the whole world is celebrating Yoga with full enthusiasm.Dr. S. P. Pandey in his presidential address said that originated from India Yoga has become now a global event. India took lead in 2024 to introduced the benefits of Yoga and more then 200 Nations decided to celebrate yoga every year under the aegis of United Nation.. first time it was celebrated internally in 2015. Yoga has become today a part and parcel of human being. It has become a life style.
The second session was started with special lectures on Yoga by prominent scholars of Yoga and Meditation. The session was chaired by Prof. K.K Sharma (Former Dean faculty of S.V.D.V. B.H.U.) १७ अगस्त से ३१ अगस्त २०२३ तक पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ, वाराणसी द्वारा ‘श्रमण-परम्परा के स्रोत एवं मौलिक सिद्धान्त’ विषयक एक १५ दिवसीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया। इस कार्यशाला के उद्घाटन सत्र (१७ अगस्त २०२३) कीr अध्यक्षता की प्रख्यात कलाविद् प्रो. मारुति नन्दन प्रसाद तिवारी जी ने, मुख्य अतिथि थे इन्दिरा गांधी जनजातीय केन्द्रीय विश्वविद्यालय के पूर्व कुलपति प्रो. सी.डी. सिंह, सारस्वत अतिथि थे प्रख्यात समाज सेवी श्री धनपतराजजी भंसाली तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि थे प्रसिद्ध उद्योगपति श्री संजय गुप्ता।
कार्यक्रम का प्रारम्भ जैन एवं बौद्ध मंगलाचरण से हुआ। अतिथियों का स्वागत संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. श्रीप्रकाश पाण्डेय ने किया। संस्थान का परिचय तथा कार्यशाला के आयोजन की आवश्यकता पर डॉ. ओम प्रकाश सिंह ने प्रकाश डाला। विशिष्ट अतिथि श्री संजय गुप्ता ने श्रमण परम्परा का परिचय देते हुए पार्श्वनाथ विद्यापीठ को इस कार्यशाला के आयोजन के लिए बधाई दिया। मुख्य अतिथि प्रो. सी. डी. सिंह ने श्रमण परम्परा के मुख्य बिन्दुओं को स्पर्श करते हुए जैन और बौद्ध दोनों दर्शनों के सिद्धान्तों को वर्तमान सन्दर्भ में अत्यन्त प्रासंगिक बताया। कार्यक्रम की अध्यता करते हुए प्रो.मारुति नन्दन प्रसाद तिवारी ने अपने अध्यक्षीय उद्बबोधन में श्रमण परम्परा की प्राचीनता का ससन्दर्भ उल्लेख किया और बताया कि जैन और बौद्ध कला तथा साहित्य में हमें समरसता और समावेशी स्वरूप की झलक मिलती है। दोनो परम्परओं के केन्द्र में ‘बहुजन हिताय बहुजन सुखाय’ की अवधारणा दिखायी देती है। अध्यक्षीय उद्बबोधन के बाद धन्यवाद ज्ञापन कार्यशाला के संयोजक डा. ओम प्रकाश सिंह ने किया।

पार्श्र्वनाथ विद्यापीठ, ११ से १३ नवम्बर २०२२ को भारतीय दार्शनिक अनुसंधान परिषद् द्वारा अनुदानित `भारतीय परम्परा में सांस्कृतिक राष्ट्रवाद’ विषयक एक त्रिदिवसीय राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी’ का आयोजन किया गया। संगोष्ठी का उद्घाटन सत्र दिनांक ११ नवम्बर २०२२ प्रात: ११ बजे आयोजित किया गया। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता की डा. बालमुकुन्द पाण्डेय, राष्ट्रीय संगठन सचिव, अखिल भारतीय इतिहास संकलन समिति, नई दिल्ली तथा मुख्य अतिथि थे- प्रोफेसर रजनीश शुक्ल, कुलपति, महात्मा गांधी अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय हिन्दी विश्वविद्यालय, वर्धा। सारस्वत अतिथि थे डॉ. सुनील कुमार पटेल, विधायक रोहनियां तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि थे श्री धनपतराज जी भंसाली, प्रख्यात उद्योगपति एवं समाजसेवी, वाराणसी तथा अध्यक्ष पार्श्र्वनाथ विद्यापीठ। संगोष्ठी का प्रारम्भ जैन, बौद्ध और वैदिक मंगलाचरण से हुआ। प्रारम्भ में संगोष्ठी के समन्वयक एवं संस्थान के निदेशक डा. श्रीप्रकाश पाण्डेय ने अतिथियों एवं प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत किया तथा संगोष्ठी के आयोजन के उद्देश्य से सभी को अवगत कराया। संस्था के पुस्तकालयाध्यक्ष डॉ. ओमप्रकाश सिंह ने संस्था का परिचय और इसकी गतिविधियों की जानकारी दी। पश्चात् प्रो. विभा उपाध्याय, पूर्व अध्यक्ष, प्राचीन इतिहास विभाग, जयपुर विश्वविद्यालय ने संगोष्ठी का बीज वक्तव्य `सांस्कृतिक राष्ट्रवाद : एक समीक्षा’ प्रस्तुत किया। सारस्वत अतिथि श्री धनपतराज जी भंसाली ने अपने उद्बोधन में कहा कि सांस्कृतिक राष्ट्रवाद राष्ट्रवाद का वह विशेष रूप है जिसमें राष्ट्र को एक साझी संस्कृति के रूप में देखा जाता है। विशिष्ट अतिथि श्री सुनील पटेल ने कहा कि भारतीय संस्कृति के संवर्द्धन में श्रमण और ब्राह्मण दोनों संस्कृतियों का अवदान रहा है और दोंनों परम्पराओं में राष्ट्रवाद के तत्त्व व्यापक रूप से विद्यमान हैं। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता कर रहे डॉ. बालमुकुन्द पाण्डेय ने अपने उद्बोधन में बताया कि वर्तमान में हमारा राष्ट्र संक्रमण काल से गुजर रहा है। अनेक बाहरी शक्तियां हमारी शान्ति और सद्भाव को नष्ट करने पर आमादा हैं, ऐसे में प्रत्येक भारतवासी के मन में राष्ट्रवाद की भावना का जाग्रत होना अत्यन्त आवश्यक है। कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि प्रो. रजनीश शुक्ल ने अपने उद्बोधन में सांस्कृतिक राष्ट्रवाद के विभिन्न पहलुओं की चर्चा करते हुये कहा कि राष्ट्र निर्माण में पहला प्रमुख तत्त्व मातृभूमि के प्रति अटूट प्रेम, श्रद्धा और समर्पण है। कार्यक्रम के अन्त में धन्यवाद ज्ञापन डॉ. ओमप्रकाश सिंह ने किया।

संगोष्ठी का समापन सत्र दिनांक १३ नवम्बर २०२२ को अपराह्न १.३० बजे आयोजित किया गया। समापन सत्र की अध्यक्षता की दार्शनिक अनुसंधान परिषद् के सदस्य सचिव, प्रो. सच्चिदानन्द मिश्र तथा मुख्य अतिथि थे प्रो. आर. के. खण्डाल, पूर्व कुलपति, यूपीटीयू, नोयडा। सारस्वत अतिथि थे श्री रामाशीष सिंह, राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष, प्रज्ञाप्रवाह तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि थे श्री कुंवर विजयानन्द सिंह, वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष,पार्श्र्वनाथ विद्यापीठ। समापन सत्र का प्रारम्भ जैन, वैदिक और बौद्ध मंगलाचरण से हुआ। पश्चात् संस्थान के निदेशक और संगोष्ठी के संयोजक डॉ. श्रीप्रकाश पाण्डेय ने अतिथियों एवं प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत किया। डॉ. ओमप्रकाश सिंह ने संगोष्ठी में तीन दिनों में पठित शोध-पत्रों की सविस्तार जानकारी दी। तीन विद्वानों ने संगोष्ठी के प्रति अपने प्रतिभाव व्यक्त किये। सभी ने संगोष्ठी को अत्यन्त सफल और सूचनापरक बताया। सारस्वत अतिथि श्री रामाशीष सिंह ने अपने उद्बोधन में कहा कि विगत कुछ वर्षों में राष्ट्रवाद सम्बन्धी प्रश्न अत्यन्त मुखर हो गये हैं। राष्ट्र और राष्ट्रीय चेतना के प्रति लोगों का झुकाव बढ़ा है। कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि प्रो. आर. के. खण्डाल ने बताया कि राष्ट्रवाद एक नया पद है जो अठारहवीं शताब्दी में पश्चिमी देशों से आया यह माना जाता है किन्तु यह भ्रान्त अवधारणा है क्योंकि राष्ट्रवाद विषयक तत्त्व भारत में पहले से मौजूद रहे हैं। कार्यक्रम के अध्यक्ष प्रो. सच्चिदानन्द मिश्र, सदस्य सचिव, अखिल भारतीय दार्शनिक अनुसंधान परिषद्, नई दिल्ली ने संगोष्ठी के सुन्दर आयोजन के लिये आयोजकों को बधाई दी तथा श्री अरविन्द, रवीन्द्र नाथ टैगोर, विवेकानन्द तथा पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के राष्ट्रवादी विचारधारा को संक्षेप में प्रस्तुत करते हुये उसे सांस्कृतिक राष्ट्र का आधार बताया। डा. ओमप्रकाश सिंह ने अन्त में धन्यवाद ज्ञापन किया।
समापन सत्र के बाद प्रख्यात चिंतक एवं प्रखर राष्ट्रवादी श्री पुष्पेन्द्र कुलश्रेष्ठ का बहुत सार्थक एवं सुन्दर व्याख्यान हुआ। उन्होंने अपने व्याख्यान में राष्ट्रवाद के विभिन्न पहलुओं की चर्चा करते हुये भारतीय राजनीति के उतार चढ़ाव के साथ इसे समीकृत किया।

Report: 21 Day National workshop on ‘Teaching & Learning in Prakrit Language’ organized by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth from 15th November to 5th December, 2021

Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi organized a 21 Day National workshop on ‘Teaching & Learning in Prakrit Language’ from 15th November to 5th December, 2021. This workshop was sponsored by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi (formerly known as Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan). It was organized in collaboration with Gujarat University which has a MoU with Parshwanath Vidyapeeth for Academic Exchange Programme. The Inaugural session of the workshop was held on 15th November, 2021. Prof. K. D. Tripathi, Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, chaired the session and Prof. Harishankar Pandey, Dean Faculty of Student Welfare; Sampurnanand Sanskrit University was the chief Guest. Guest of Honor was Prof. V S Shukla, Director IGNCA, Regional Centre. All the scholars appreciated the efforts of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth made in the area of teaching and learning in Prakrit. Dr. S. P. Pandey, Jt. Director Parshwanath Vidyapeeth welcomed the guests and presented his view on the necessity and purpose of organizing workshops on Prakrit Language. He told that if the Indian culture is to be understood properly and thoroughly, the knowledge of Prakrit along with Pali and Sanskrit is very necessary.In this workshop Prof. D. N. Sharma, School of Languages, Gujarat University was the main faculty member. Other scholars who engaged classes of Prakrit Grammar were Prof. J. R. Bhattacharya from Shanti Niketan, Bolepur (WB) and Prof. D C Jain, former Professor and Head, Jodhpur University, presently living in Jaipur taught the students Prakrit grammar through various texts. Prof. Maheshwari Prasad, Prof, A. K. Jain, Prof. Pradyumn P. Shah, Prof. V. S. Shukla, Prof. Phool Chad Jain were the guest faculty for this workshop who engaged special classes on the subject. Total 83 lectures were delivered on different aspects of Prakrit Grammar. On 4th December a written test and viva-voce was conducted and on behalf of the result, the winners were given prizes in the valedictory session of the workshop.Valedictory session of the workshop was held on 5th December, 2021. Prof. K K Sharma Chaired the session and Prof. V. S. Shukla, Director IGNCA was the Chief Guest. Sh. Indrabhooti Barar, Vice President of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth Managing committee was the Guest of Honor. More than 32 participants from various places of India attended the workshop and got benefitted by this academic endeavor of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Those who were given prizes were- Sh. Abhay Kumar (First Prize), Ms. Neetu Yadav, (Second Prize) and Ms. Madhu Prajapati (Third Prize). Dr. Priyanka Singh and Shwetaketu Shukla were given consolation prizes. In the Valedictory session Dr. O. P. Singh presented the report of the workshop and Dr. Sanjeev Saraf conducted the workshop. At last Dr. O. P. Singh casted the vote of thanks. Dr. Sanjay Singh, Sh. Rajesh Chaubey and other staff members added value to the workshop by assisting it in many ways.

International Yoga Day Celebration 2021

21st June, 2021, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. On the eve of Interntional Yoga Day more than 30 participants including the students of P G Diploma in Yoga Education participated and practiced Yoga and presented various programmes coordinate by Dr. Sanjay Singh. The programme was started at 9.00 am with the Managalacharana by Ms. Neetu Yadav & Ms. Neha Jaiswal. Dr. S. P. Pandey, Joint Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth welcomed the Participants. Then the Protocol Programme started at 9.15 am. Ms. Neetu Yadav gave her voice instruction to the presentations. It was started with the chanting by Ms. Vandana & Ms. Neha. Then after Chalana kriya and Standing Posture Yoga Asanas were started by Mr. Roshan Singh. Sitting Posture Yoga Asanas were performed under the guidance of Mr. Mehul Yadav. Prone and Supine Postures Yoga Asanas were practiced under the guidance of Ms. Neha & Mr. Harishchandra. Then the Pranayama segment of the programme started. Kapalabhati, Pranayama and Dhyana were monitored by Mr. Ravindra Yogi. Sankalpa (oath) was taken under the instruction of Mr. Saurabh Singh. At the last Mrs. Minakshi & Mrs. Suneeta presented the Shantipath.In the II segment fusion of Yoga with Music was presented by the three groups of the students who were preparing since long for this event. Herbal Plantation at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth

On 24th July, 2020 a Herbal herbs and tree plantation programme was organised at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth in the leadership of Sh. Satish Chand Jain, President, Rotary Club (North) and also Finance Controller of PV. In this programme 21 herbal plants were planted by authorities of Rotary Club (North), Rotary Club Vrinda and Inner Wheel club, Varanasi. All the members were welcomed by Dr. S P Pandey, Joint Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth and then every member planted the plants.
Covid-19# Contribution of lunch boxes by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth

17th Dec. 2019, A MoU was signed between Parshwanath Vidyapeeth and Hemachandrachary North Gujarat University, Patan with an objective that both the institutions will collaborate on developing a joint academic and research cooperation in the field of Indology in general and Jainalogy in particular. Lectures delivered for three Ph. D. Students of Gujarat University

Dr. S. P. Pandey, Joint Director Parshwanath Vidyapeeth delivered lectures for three Ph. D. students enrolled in Gujarat University under joint research academic programme between Parshwanath Vidyapeeth and Gujarat University. Vaishali Shah, Jepal Shah and Ila Sheth are the three students working for their research in Dept. of Prakrit, Gujarat University on ‘Philosophical study of Pannavana Sutta’, ‘A critical study of Uttaradhyayan and Bhagavadgita’, and ‘A critical study of Haribhadra’s Yoga respectively’. Dr. Pandey engaged classes and guided the students from 12th to 16th Dec. 2019 for their research topics.
Museum Takes Shape

Over the period of time Parshwanath Vidyapeeth has been repository of many artefacts, statues, coins, etc.
Some of these artefacts for donated by Jain community while others were required over a period of time. Last year it was decided to build a proper Museum to display the rich history of Jainism and other cultures that were existing in parallel.
A 10,000 square yard special annexe building was constructed for this purpose and now the Museum display is taking shape in the same. We believe that over the next one year we will have a world class museum operational at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth.One of the centrepiece is Buddhist stupa pillar that was erected during the time Buddhism spread across the country.
Library Archiving

With over 40,000 books at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth library it is a task to maintain and keep safe the paper editions. Two initiatives for launched in the year 2017. the first was to get a library catalogue available to all researches online through our website. Slowly and steadily this catalogue has been growing and as of date 28000 catalogue titles have been added to our online library link.
The second initiative was to start archiving all books in PDF format so that not only catalogues are available but also the titles themselves can be downloaded from the website. now the beginning has been made by installation of a specialised scanners and software to make PDF soft copies of all book titles.
15 Day National Workshop on Jain Nyay

A 15 day National Workshop on Siddhasena Divakar,s two prominent treatises of Jain Nyaya- Sanmati tarika and Nyay avatars, sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research was organised by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth from 15th to 29th November 2019 . It’s inaugural function was organised on 15th Nov. 19. Total 36 participants from all over India participated in this workshop. The prominent resource persons who taught Sanmati tark and Nyayavatar by Siddhasena Divakar were Prof. D C Jain, Jodhpur, Prof. Shriyansh Singhai, Jaipur, Prof. Veer Sagar Jain and Prof. Anekant Jain from Delhi and Prof. J B Shah from Ahmedabad. The local eminent Jain scholars who taught in the workshop were Prof. Phool chand Jain, Prof. K K Jain, Prof. S. Mishra, Prof. A K Jain and Prof. Pradyumn S Shah.
Parshwanath Goes Solar

Parshwanath Vidyashram decided to go in for solar energy system at the start of year 2019. A rooftop installation of 30kWh was done by March.
We are pleased to report that in just six months Parshwanath Vidyapeeth has generated more than 30,000 units of clean energy.
The excess of generation over our demand is fed into the local electricity grid under arrangement with PVVNL. We hope this initiative goes long way towards keeping our environment safe.

B.H.U. & Parshwanath Vidyapeeth Research Status

After a long gap of 19 years, again Research work from BHU has been resumed. Now the Research Scholars of the various departments of Faculty of Arts, BHU can be enrolled for their Ph.D. at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, an external Research Center of B.H.U. Through a meeting of D.R.C. ( Departmental Research Committee ), Department of Philosophy, BHU held on 19/09/2019, two Research Scholars got enrolled under Supervision of Dr. S. P. Pandey, Joint Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Dr. Pandey will work as external Supervisor. Now the Research Scholars from other departments like Department of A.I.H.C. & Archaeology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Jain Bauddha Darshan (SVDV) will be able to get registered under faculty of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth for their Ph.D. Research.

V K Jain expressed his happiness over the well-organized program and assured Dr. Pandey all the help to provide for the Development of Yoga Education.It is worth to mention here that Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, from the year 2018 is running a P G Diploma Course in Yoga & Meditation.

They did practice for many postures of Yoga as standing, sitting and sleeping as well. In last they did meditation and Pranayam also. The program was organized in collaboration of Indira Gandhi National Centre of Art, Regional Centre. Main function of International Yoga Day started with Yogic Managalacharan and Dr. S. P. Pandey, Director of the Institute welcomed the Guest.
This course is recognized by Kaivalyadham Institute of Yoga, Lonavla (Pune). In first batch more than 20 students have taken admission. The Faculties to teach Yoga are well experienced and noted in their fields. There is not a single centre of Yoga recognized by Kaivalyadham Institute other than Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. It is emerging centre of excellence in Yoga.

Majority of the Prakrit works still remains inaccessible to the scholars of Jainology as well as to those working in other disciplines because of non-availability of Prakrit texts with their translations in other languages. For comparative and comprehensive study of Indian tradition, history, culture, literature, language, poetics etc. knowledge of Prakrit is essential.
Keeping in view the importance of the subject Parshwanath Vidyapeeth organised a 21 Day National Workshop on Teaching & Learning in Prakrit Language from 17th May to 06th June, 2019. This is the 10th workshop on Prakrit in this series. Parshwanath Vidyapeeth is committed to impart knowledge of Prakrit to the students and scholars interested in Indological.The Inaugural function of the workshop was held on 17th May, 2019. Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Director of I.G.N.C.A.,Varanasi, was the Chief-guest,Sh. D. R. Bhansali, famous Industrialist and Philanthropist, and Vice President, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi was the Guest of honour and Senior Prof. Jagatram Bhattacharya, Dept. of Prakrit, Pali and Sanskrit, Vishwa Bharati, Shantiniketan, West Bengol presided over the session,There were 30 participants in the Workshop from the different universities, i.e. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, Basant Kanya P. G. Collage, Jain Vishwa Bharati University, Ladanun.
In this workshop 60 lectures and 05 special lectures were delivered by the subject experts. Apart from the special lectures maximum classes were engaged by Prof. Dinanath Sharma, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, Prof. Jagatram Bhattacharya, Vishwa Bharati, Shantiniketan, West Bengol, Dr. Rahul Kumar Singh, Bajarang Inter College, Bhadari, Kunda, Pratapgarh and Dr. Pratap Mishra, SGR PG College, Dobhi, Jaunpur.
In order to provide a sound background of Prakrit Language and Literature, besides regular lectures scheduled per day on grammar, 05 special lectures were arranged by the eminent scholars of the respective subjects. Following special lectures were delivered during the Workshop:
1. Arddhamagadhi Agam Sahitya by Dr. S. P. Pandey, Joint Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi.
2. Prakrit Jaina Katha Sahitya by Prof. Prabhunath Dwivedi, Former Head, Deptt. of Sanskrit, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi.
3. Ashok ke Prakrit Abhilekh by Prof. Maheshwari Prasad, National Professor, National Archives, New Delhi.
4. Hathigumpha Prakrit Abhilekh by Prof. Maheshwari Prasad, National Professor, National Archives, New Delhi.
5. Prakrit ke Hastalikhita Grantha by Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Director, IGNCA, Varanasi.
The Teaching in the Workshop was based on the Hemacandra Vyakaran and the method adopted for teaching was drilling system to make understand the grammar easily for participants. In this system the teacher selects the words while teaching the text and by drilling method he demonstrates the essential constituents of the word.
At the end of the workshop an examination was held followed by a writen exam and viva-voce. On the basis of the final result three participants were awarded certificate of merit with prizes. Dev Sarashwat Faculty of SVDV, BHU, secured 1st Position, Haridarshan Faculty of SVDV, BHU, secured 2nd Position and Vijay Shankar Singh, Deptt. of Sanskrit, MGKV, Varanasi secured 3rd Position and Ram Awadh Kushvaha, Deptt. of Sanskrit, MGKV, Varanasi secured incentive prize.Valedictory function of the Workshop was held on 6th June, 2019. Prof. P. N. Dwivedi, Former Head, Department of Sanskrit, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, was Chairman of the session, Prof. Y. P. Dubey, Former Vice Chancellor, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, was the Chief Guest of this session and Sh. Kunvar Vijayanand Singh, Senior Vice President, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi was the Guest of honour. The Workshop completed successfully under the Directorship of Dr. S. P. Pandey, Joint Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi and Dr. O. P. Singh was the co-ordinator of the workshop.Concluding Remarks: The workshop was well organised. The participants of the workshop were fully satisfied with process of teaching and the selection of the faculty members. The participants in their feedback appreciated the commitment and zeal of the management for organizing such a nice workshop. The participants were of the opinion that apart from ELENENTARY COURSE on Prakrit an ADVANCE COUESE on Prakrit should be conducted, so that the participants of ELENENTARY COURSE could get chance to upgrade their knowledge of Prakrit.

Three Day National Seminar on ‘Historical & Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions'

An inaugural Function of three Day National Seminar was held at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. Prof. C D Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak was the Chief Guest and Prof. Maheshwari Prasad, Former National Professor National Archives, New Delhi presided over the function. Sh. D R Bhansali and Sh. Indrabhooti Barar was the Guest of Honour. On this occasion Prof. Sagarmal Jain and Prof. Phoolchand Jain Premi was felicitated for being conferred President Award 20017 and 1018 respectively for their significant contribution to the Prakrit Language.
This seminar run for all three days from 26th October to 28th October 2018 in which more than 25 outstation scholars from different part of the country and more than 20 local scholars discussed the theme of the seminar in length. The seminar was sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

A Three Day National Seminar on
Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions
(26-28 October, 2018)
The Jaina inscriptions throw light on the origin and development of Jaina church and organizations along with relations with other religious societies. Some Jaina inscriptions are of special importance for the history of Indian dynasties. For Example HÂthÍgumph inscription of KhÂravela and Durjanpur Jaina Mörtilekha of RÂmgupta. Had the two inscriptions been not appeared identity and place in history of these great kings could have lost into the darkness. Likewise, we have initial information about some southern dynasties such as Gaßga, KadaØba, Hoysala etc. from Jaina inscriptions. The Inscriptions throw ample light on the Socio-economic condition of the concerned period. We get information about names of Jaina and non-Jaina communities, ramification of castes and Varàas, migration of families, conversion of families to Jainism, names of Individuals, joint family system, position of women, food and drinks, marriage ceremony, customs and ornaments, Coins, rate of Interests, weights and measures, wages, house rent etc. Jaina inscriptions also furnish information about the polity and system of administration.
Keeping in view the importance of inscriptions, and to discuss the trends, survey, preservation, nature and typology of inscriptions in the light of the other sources of history and also to evaluate the role of the inscriptional evidences as a source of different perspective of Jaina and non-Jain history and culture, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth organized a Three Day National Seminar on Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions from 26-28 October, 2018.
Inaugural Session:
The inaugural session of the seminar was held on 26th October 2018 at 10.30 AM. Prof. C D. Singh, Former V C of IGNTU, Amarkantak was the Chief Guest, Prof. Maheshwari Prasad was the Chairman of the session, Prof. Sagarmal Jain was Guest of Honor and Sh. D R Bhansali was present in the seminar as a special Guest. The KEY-NOTE was addressed by Prof. Vibha Upadhyaya, Professor at Dept. of History & Culture, Rajasthan University, Jaipur.
After the inaugural session the first academic session stated at 3.00 pm. Prof. Shubhachandra Jain, University of Mysore, Chaired the session. Prof. Jitendra B. Shah, Ahmedabad, Dr. K K Tripathi, Sagar University and Prof. D N Sharma presented their paper in this session respectively on ‘ Palitana ke Do Durlabha Abhilekha,‘ BundelkhaàÅa ke Abhilekhon ka SÂßskçtika Adhyayana and Critical Study of the Kharvel Inscription.

On 28th October the 4th academic session started at 10.00 am. Prof. Vibha Upadhyay was the chairman of this session. The 5th academic session was held from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm chaired by Prof. H N Dubey, Allahabad University. In this session Dr. O. P. Singh, PV, Dr. Vinaya Kumar, BHU, Prof. Suman Jain, BHU and Miss Sadhana Singh, Ph. D. Scholar, BHU and Dr. Richa Singh, Sen Degree College, Lucknow presented their paper respectively on ‘ Jaino k ìaivo evaØ Vaiîàava ke sÂtha Kalah evaØ Mel-milÂpa, Ardhaphalaka: The Early Jaina Monks of Mathura, Pratiharkalin Jaian abhilekha and ‘Hoyasal Rajavaßïa k RÂjanÍtika Evam Sanskritka Itihas: Jaina Abhilekhon ke ÀdhÂra Para.
Valedictory session of the seminar was held on 28th October, 2018 at 3.00 pm. Prof. Yogendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, C S University, Ballia was the Chairman, Prof. Sagarmal Jaina Chaired the session and Prof. Sitaram Dubey, B H U was the Guest of Honor.

Gujarat University Recognition

Parshwanath Vidyapeeth got recognized by Gujarat University, Ahmedabad as its External Research Centre
Under a MOU signed on 16th August 2018 by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth & Gujarat University now Parhswnath Vidyapeeth has been recognized by Gujarat University as its External Centre. Parshwanath Vidyapeeth is already recognized as an External Research Centre of Banaras Hindu University. It is also recognized by Scientific & Industrial Research Organization, Dept. of Science and Technology, Government of India for conducting research.
This recognition as an External Research centre from Gujarat University is special in many aspects as the MOU is signed by Gujarat University to work in collaboration with Parshwanath Vidyapeeth for various joint academic programms. The earlier two recognitions from BHU and SIRO were confined to the area of Research only but this recognition allows Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, additional to research, to have collaborative research programmes, Post Graduation programme, in organizing Seminar and Workshops, vocational courses and reciprocal faculty exchange programme etc with Gujarat University.
The salient features of MOU between Parshwanath Vidyapeeth and Gujarat University are as follows:
- The MOU is being executed to further the common interests for both organizations:
- Both the organizations will collaborate on developing a joint academic and research co-operation in the field of Indology in general and Jainology in particular.
- Both the Institutions will define a mechanism to promote study and research in ‘’Prakrit & Jaina Studies’’ and will also impart vocational and skill-oriented training and other programs so as to benefit both, the students and staff of each organizations.
- Will promote appropriate joint research projects and joint courses of study, with particular emphasis on Jainism.
- Will encourage students and staff exchange in the host institution for a short period on invitation by the host Institution under joint collaboration program.
- The teachers of one organization will visit the other institution for a short period on invitation by the host Institution under joint collaboration program.
- Academic members of staff and other personnel of one partner Institution may spend limited periods not normally exceeding 25 days in a year at a time for the purpose of implementation of joint tasks within the areas of co-operation.
- Under Faculties Exchange Programme the host Institution will bear the cost of travel and same that will be reimbursed for the concerned faculty member visiting the Institutions under Faculty Exchange Programme.
- Exchange Programme will be accorded the rights and privileges of the teachers in the host Institution in accordance with the terms and conditions relevant to the host organization.
- The aim of the MOU shall be to achieve a broad balance in the respective contributions and benefits of the collaboration, and this shall be subject to periodic review by both Universities/Institutions.
- The host Institution agrees to assist in the seeking appropriate accommodation, and to supply work space, library and technical facilities as appropriate.
- The faculty / technical personnel will be encouraged to deliver lectures/ invitation lectures and talks in the organization.
- In order to promote the academic and research in the areas of Jainology and Prakrit Studies both the Institutions will agree to hold/conduct, Joint conference/workshops/training programs whenever feasible as a national event.
- The faculty member selected by both the Institutions individually will act as liaison officer between the Institute and the University.
- Under this agreement, the Gujarat University, shall accord recognition to Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi as an External Research Centre of the University and allow students enrolled at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Varanasi to be registered under the joint Ph.D. programme with one of the guides from Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. At successful completion of the course and examination and viva-voce, the successful student shall e awarded Ph. D./D.Litt degree by the Gujarat University.
- This agreement will take effect from the date of its signing and shall be initially valid for 10 years from the date unless sooner terminated, revoked or modified by mutual written agreement between the Parties, and may be extended by the mutual consent. Either party may terminate the Agreement at any time during the term by the providing three months written notice to the other parties.
The University and the Institute hereby agree the implementation of collaborative research programmes /projects/ thesis/ vocational courses etc. together in both letter and spirit.
Presidential Awards 2017 to Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Former Director, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth

Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Former Director of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth got conferred Presidential Award for PRAKRIT LANGUAGE for the year 2017.
On 15th August, 2018, the Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Govt. of India announced the name of the recipient of Presidential Awards for PRAKRIT LANGUAGE for the year 2017. This year Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Former Director Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, Founder Director of Prachya Vidyapeeth, Shajapur (MP) and a great scholar of Jainism has been awarded Presidential Award 2017 for his significant contribution to Prakrit Language and Literature.
Prof. Sagarmal Jain is a great scholar of Jainism. Very noble, polite and a man of integrity by nature, Prof. Sagarmal Jain has got depth and insight into Jaina Philosophy. Like Pt. Dalsukh Malvania, he is open for modern interpretation of a traditional Jaina Philosophy. Prof. Jain was born at Shajapur (M P) on 22nd February, 1932. His father Sh. Rajmalji Jain and mother Smt. Gangabai were of religious minded. From the childhood Prof. Jain had blessings of Jaina saints so his development and growth was under the very religious atmosphere. Up to High school, his schooling was done at Shajapur. After doing his High school, he joined his family business of Sarafa at Shajapur. At the age of seventeen, he was married with Smt. Kamala Jain. In 1925, he joined Sahitya Sammelana, Prayaga and passed Vyapar-visharad examination. In 1954 he passed Sahitya Ratna in Artha-shastra. In 1957 he passed his Intermediate exam in commerce. In 1958 he took leading role in opening Balkrishna Mahavidyalaya at Shajapur and passed his B A from this college. In 1961 he passed his M A from Christian College, Indore. He was appointed as a lecturer first time in Maha Kaushal Vidyalaya, Jabalpur. Then in 1967 he was transferred to Government Kala Evam Vanijya Vibhag, Indore. Then in 1968, he took over as head of the Philosophy Dept. in Hamidia College, Bhopal. In 1969 he completed his thesis on ‘Jaina Bauddha aura Geeta ke Achara Darshano ka Tulanatmaka Adhyayana’. In 1979, after recommendation of Pt. Dalsukh Malvania he joined Parshwanath Vidyapeeth (then P V Research Institute) as a Director.
At Parshwanath Vidyapeeth: During his tenure as a Director at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, he made a tremendous progress in academic as well as administrative field. He created a vast Jaina literature by his authorship, translation dedication towards study of Jainism. He got expertise in Jainism and Prakrit Studies. He got constructed many more premises in the campus, boosted the speed of publication and guided more than 50 students for their Ph. D. It has all accomplished due to his dedication and hard work. Many Sdhu-Sadhvis studied under his supervision at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth. As a Director of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, he visited several foreign countries. He visited U S A in 1985 to deliver few lectures on Paryushan. In 1993, he was invited as a scholar of Jainism in Parliament of World Religion which was held in Chicago. He visited JAFNA in 1996 and many more countries like Rale, Washington, Finland San Francisko and Los Angeles to deliver lectures on Jainism.
He was General Secretary at Managing Committee of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth from 2001 -2009.
Award and Accolades:
1. On his work on Ph. D. he got Pradeep Kumar Rampuria Award in 1987.
He was awarded Hasti Smriti Puraskara by Samyag-jnana-pracharak- mandal Jaipur in 1994.
He was awarded most prestigious Award from the President of India, 2017 for his contribution to Prakrit Studies.
His Back Journey to Shajapur:
After spending 20 years as a Director of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, he got retired in 1997. At Shajapur he established a Prachya Vidyapeeth working in the area of Research in Jainism. More than 16 Sadhu-Sadhvis got their Ph. D. under his supervision from Jaina Vishwa Bharati and Vikram University which recognizes Prachya Vidyapeeth, Shajapur as their external Research Centre. He has got a good library of Jainism and still at the age of 86, he works there.
Academic Works: He authored more than 34 books and booklets, wrote Introduction for 17 Books, edited 30,000 pages 0f 78 books in the form of books and many more articles and Monographs.Prof. Phoolchandra Jain as born on 12th July, 1948 at Dalapatpur, District Sagar (MP). His father Singhai Nemichand Jain and mother Udyeti Bai were religious person. After his primary education he did Jaina Dharma Visharada from Katni. Then he came to Syadvad Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi and passed his Siddhanta-shastri and Achary Examination. He did his M A from Dept. of Sanskrit, BHU with Jaina Philosophy. He passed his Prakritacharya from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. In 1977 he was enrolled at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth for Ph. D. and completed his Ph. D. on ‘Mulachara ka Samikshatmaka Adhyayan’ in 1977. He taught Prakrit at Jaina Vishwa Bharati from 1976-1979. He joined as a lecturer and head to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in 1979. He got retired in 2013 from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. After, he was Director of B L Institute of Indology for two years. Prof. Jain has got many awards based on his academic works.

Institute of Indology, New Delhi, Former Professor, Jaina Darshan, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and Alumni of Parshwanath Vidyapeeth has been awarded Presidential Award 2017 for his significant contribution to Prakrit Language and Literature. Prof. Phoolchand Jain ‘Premi’ who did his Ph.D. from Parshwanath Vidyapeeth on ‘Mulachara Ka Samikshatmak Adhyayan’, is a great scholar of Sanskrit, Prakrit and Jainism. He was head of the Department of Jaina Darshan, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. He has been former President of Akhil Bharatavarshiya Digambar Vidvat Parishad. Presently he is Dean of Syadvad Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi and President of Jina Foundation, New Delhi. He has been Professor Emeritus at Jaina Vishwa Bharati, Ladnun. He has edited many original Jaina manuscripts and authored hundreds of Research papers. In 2018 he was awarded ‘Vishista Pescara of Uttarpradesh Sanskrit Sansthanam by Honorable Governor of U.P. Sh. Ram Naik and Yogi Aditya Nath, Chief Minister U. P. His wife Dr. Munni Pushpa Jain is a guest lecture, in Jaina Darshan Vibhag, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. His elder son Dr. Anekant Kumar Jain is Professor at Lal Bahadur Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi. ‘Shraman Sanskriti aura Vaidika Vratya’ is a recently published work of Prof. Jain from Bharatiya Jnanapith, New Delhi which is well received by the Jaina Scholars. National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ at PV

Invitation to the Three Day National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ to be organised by Parshwanath Vidyapeeth from 26-28 October, 2018.
Established in 1937, Parshwanath Vidyapeeth is a premier Institute of higher learning in the field of Indology in general and Jainology in particular. Jainism being one of the oldest and richest traditions of the world through the ages has preserved many of its original doctrinal characteristics. At present there is an awakening of interest world over in the study of Jain philosophy, religion, and culture. Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, through its Research work and publications, is continuously engaged in promoting the cultural heritage of Jainas.
The Institute is regularly engaged in publishing the original texts of Prakrit and Sanskrit with its critical editions, translations and commentaries and organising National Seminars, Workshops, symposia, and lecture series. Now Parshwanath Vidyapeeth, under series of Seminar on Jaina Inscriptions, is going to organise its second Three Day National Seminar on ‘Historical and Socio-cultural Significance of Jaina Inscriptions’ from 26-28 October, 2018.
International Yoga Day at PV

On 21st June, 2018 on the eve of International Yoga Day a Yoga Programme was held at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth under collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Art, Varanasi.Dr. Yogesh Bhatta and Mrs. Geeta Bhatta were the two trainers who demonstrated many aspect of Yogi Asanas and Pranayam.At the beginning Dr. V S Shukla, Director IGNCA welcome the trainers and the programme was started with Managalacharana. Including the students and Research Scholars total 30 trainees were present in the Yogia Class.
At last Dr. S. P. Pandey casted the vote of thanks.

A 21 Day National Workshop on ‘Prakrit Language and Literature’ was held at the institute between 18th May and 7th June, 2018.A Report Parshwanath Vidyapeeth is committed to promote the study of Indian culture through imparting deep insights into the Shramana Tradition by organising seminars and workshops. There is enormous literature in Prakrit language. Majority of the Prakrit works still remains inaccessible to the scholars of Jainology as well as to those working in other disciplines because of non-availability of Prakrit texts with their translations in other languages.For comparative and comprehensive study of Indian tradition, history, culture, literature, language, poetics, etc. knowledge of Prakrit is essential. Keeping in view the importance of the subject Parshwanath Vidyapeeth organised a 21 day National workshop on ‘Prakrit Language and Literature’ from 18th May to 7th June 2018.This was the 8th workshop organised on the subject. Teaching of Prakrit generally aims to enable the participants to successfully attempt and comprehend each Prakrit words, derived from Sanskrit. In fact the pattern of this workshop is teaching Prakrit grammar through operational procedure employed in Sanskrit grammar. Sutras and rules of Prakrit grammar used in the texts were being explained.
The method adopted here for learning Prakrit language is drilling system. The formation of each word is analysed and rules of grammar applied in a particular word are explained. After attending this course one will be able to cultivate the knowledge of Prakrit.The Inaugural function of the workshop was held on 18th May, 2018 at Parshwanath Vidyapeeth Seminar Hall. Prof. Harishankar Pandey, Former Dean, Faculty of Shramana Vidya Sankaya, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University was the Chief Guest and Mahamahopadhyaya Prof. Prof. K. D. Tripathi , Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Vardha and Centennial Professor, Bharat Adhyayan Kendra. BHU chaired the Inaugural Session. Shri D. R. Bhansali, Renowned Industrialist & Philanthropist, Varanasi, was the guest of honour.There were 28 participants in the workshop from the different universities, i.e. Banaras Hindu University, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, and Tilaka Majhi University, Muzaffarpur.In order to provide a sound background of Prakrit Language and Literature, besides regular four lectures scheduled per day (60 lectures) on grammar, one special lecture was arranged daily by the eminent scholars of the respective field. Prominent among those were Prof. Maheshwari Prasad, Former National Professor, National Archives, New Delhi, Prof. K. D. Tripathi , Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Vardha and Centennial Professor, Bharat Adhyayan Kendra.
